Online Donations

There are several ways in which you can provide financial support to Rideau Park. There is the traditional offering plate on Sunday mornings, but many members and friends choose to make regular donations automatically from their bank accounts by Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR).

Most recently, Rideau Park has registered with CanadaHelps, an organization that faciliates online donations to any registered Canadian charity.

Donate Now Through CanadaHelps.org!To make a donation at any time, simply click on the “Donate Now” button to the left. Donations made online will be acknowledged with a receipt sent by CanadaHelps (not by Rideau Park), which can be used for Income Tax purposes. When making a donation, you may, if you wish, designate your gift to any of several funds, including:

Legacy Gifts

Are you interested in in exploring opportunities to invest in the future of Rideau Park? Historically, our church has benefitted from legacy gifts from those who wished to leave something to support the ministry and programs they value. There are many options to ensure your wishes are met through specific instructions. This applies to gifts to Rideau Park or to the United Church of Canada or its established funds.

Rideau Park Foundation for Ministry

Faithful stewardship sustains the presence of the church from generation to generation. The Rideau Park Foundation for Ministry is an opportunity for those who value the ministry and presence of Rideau Park United Church to be a part of its ongoing witness and future. The Rideau Park Foundation for Ministry was established by the congregation in 1994. The vision of those who initiated the Foundation was an ongoing way to build new ministry directions.






You Can Help By:

  • Making a donation to the Foundation in memory of or to honour a family member, friend or member of the Rideau Park congregation. The church staff is able to help you make a contribution and to send appropriate notifications, tax receipts and thank you cards.
  • Naming the Foundation as your charity of choice at the time of your death. This helps your family to know that it is your desire to remember the congregation through memorials.
  • Making a donation directly to the Foundation. Any size contribution is always welcome. Charitable tax receipts will be issued.
  • Including the Foundation in your estate planning. The United Church of Canada and the church staff can be of assistance in directing you to information about how you can continue to sustain your faithfulness to God and to future generations of the Church through long term giving through gift annuities, life insurance and bequests.

Administration of the Foundation

The Trustees of Rideau Park United Church are the custodians of the Foundation and responsible for investing and administering the Foundation funds. The Trustees report to the congregation at the Annual General Meeting each year about the status of the Foundation. The funds available each year are granted for worthy projects and ministries approved by Council.

What Might the Foundation Support?

The Foundation could provide funding for experimenting with new ministry projects in the area of outreach ministry to our community, or support to seniors, or leadership development. It could also be used to spur on a property renewal project.

Financial Goal of the Foundation

Early in 2007, the Foundation was blessed to reach a principal balance of $100,000. We have reached our initial goal for the fund. Now the investment income earned during any year, as well as a portion (up to one half) of any unrestricted gifts made in that year, can be used for ministry projects.

The actual application forms, listed below, are provided both in printable form and in an electronic form which can be downloaded and used if Microsoft Word is available on your computer.

Note that there are two different types of application form; the short version can be used only for applications which meet all of the following conditions:

  • requests must come from members of the church (not adherents or others)
  • the project funds must be used within the church (not for outreach, for example)
  • the total expenditure must not exceed $3000

All other applications must use the regular (long) form.
