The Chancel Choir is an adult choir which enhances the worship experience at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings each week, and seasonally at the 11:15 am service. The choir supports the congregation in singing the hymns, sings anthems and leads the liturgy of the service. Special choral presentations in the Fall, Christmas and Spring are also presented. This choir is not auditioned and rehearses September-May on Thursdays from 7:30-9:30 pm. See also: Choir Section Leads. |
Instrumental Ensembles & Soloists: An opportunity to play solo instruments or be part of a small band/orchestra ensemble. This group is led by the Music Director.
Contemporary Worship Team: This intergenerational group provides music and liturgy for worship scheduled throughout the year.
The Cherub Choir, for children from age 4 through grade 1, is an introductory choir which promises to instill the joy of music in your child’s heart. They meet on Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:00 pm to explore singing, rhythms, movement, art, and the liturgical year. They sing occasionally in church to a very receptive congregation. This year’s director is Nadine Dawson. First practice is on Thursday, Sept. 10th. Jubilation is a new choir this year for grades 6 and up. It meets Thursdays from 6:30-7:15 pm in the Sanctuary. This program will include music, drama, drumming, guest artists, movement, and outreach into the community. The choir is co-directed by Gretchen Conrad and Richard Glasser; Patricia Whitridge is the accompanist. First practice is on Thursday, Sept. 10th. | Joyful Noise is a choir for children in grades 2 through 6. It meets Thursdays from 6:30-7:15 pm. In addition to learning music for worship, we explore rhythms, composition, and musicians and their instruments. We also include storytelling, artistic expression, and movement. This choir sings regularly in church and will take a leadership role in the music of the Family Christmas Eve Service. Its members grow in Christian understanding and develop their music reading skills. This choir is co-directed by Richard Glasser and Nadine Dawson. First practice is on Thursday, Sept. 10th. |

A’Pealing Sound is a youth handbell choir (ages 12 to 18) which plays three to five octave music and participates in the worship service occasionally through the year. Their first practice will be Monday, Sept. 14th at 6:30 pm. If your child would like to learn handbell techniques and enhance their musical education, contact the group leader, Marcia Gosse (613-731-2281).
La Bell Ensemble is a group of advanced ringers which provides music for weddings and offers its gifts of music frequently out in the wider community. This group, led by Marcia Gosse (613-731-2281) starts up on Tuesday, Sept. 8th at 7:15 pm.
Touch of Brass is an adult handbell choir that plays in church regularly and out at special events in the community on occasion. (As an example, you can see photos of them playing at Glen Cairn United Church.) Practices are held Mondays at 7:15 pm. beginning September 14th. Note-able Sound is a program for children in grades 2 through 6; participants will learn to play music with hand-held chimes. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:15-7:45 pm. This group helps with the learning and improving of music reading and coordination skills. Note-able Sound occasionally shares their music in Sunday worship. Grace Notes is our newest Handchimes ensemble aimed at youth in grades 7 and up. This relaxed and fun group works on improving technique and musicality while exploring contemporary and classical music genres. No previous music experience is required!
