Online Studies

Some of the studies which we engage in at Rideau Park provide the opportunity for people near or far to access the study material (and in some cases also to participate) online. Currently, online access is available for the following studies:

Weekly Lectionary Bible Study

On Wednesday mornings, we host a Bible Study in our church. About 12 people gather to discuss the readings for the following Sunday. Leadership is provided by the preacher for that Sunday; the study is part of the sermon writing process. The study is also available online in the form of a blog. The online version of the study provides opportunity for more people to participate in the discussion. Welcome to this holy conversation!

Note: this study has now concluded, but the online notes are still available at the link given below.

Peace. Patience. Steadiness of Spirit. Calmness in the face of the storms of life. A sense of God’s presence deep within. These are just some of the benefits of meditation. On Sunday mornings in January, beginning January 9 (from 11:15 to 11:45 am) you are invited to An Introduction to Christian Meditation: four half-hour sessions to help anyone get started in the practice of meditation.

The First Paul

Note: this study has now concluded, but the online notes are still available at the link given below.

This study runs on Monday nights November 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 at 7:30 pm. This fall we are exploring The First Paul, co-authored by Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan.  If you have the impression that the apostle Paul was conservative, then join us and explore Borg and Crossan’s book, which invites us to reclaim a radical visionary behind the traditional image.  Books are available for $14.00, or on loan from the church library.
