Spirit Connection is an award-winning television program produced by The United Church of Canada at Berkeley Studio and broadcast from coast to coast each week on VisionTV. The show focuses on stories of faith in action and profiles of people who seek to renew their communities and congregations in The United Church of Canada and around the world. The series has been on the air since 1988. The programs vary, from round table discussions, town halls, interviews, stories of faith and justice in action and documentaries on issues of national and global concern. Spirit Connection’s mandate is to reach out to viewers who are concerned about faith and spiritual matters, who care about questions of social justice and who are committed to living one’s faith. Spirit Connection focuses on stories of faith in action and profiles of people who seek to renew their communities and congregations – people who make a difference. Royal Orr, a well-known Quebec journalist and broadcaster brings a wealth of skills and a unique, inquisitive approach to interviews, round-table discussions and stories told from a faith perspective. Royal has been host of Cross-Country Check Up, the CBC national phone-in show. He has written regular columns for the Montreal Gazette, and has other television and radio experience. Also an active United Church layperson, Royal has a strong commitment to the life and work of the United Church.
