The Shepherds of Good Hope is a non-profit organization. Since the first bowls of soup were served to hungry patrons on February 7, 1983, the Shepherds of Good Hope has relied heavily on Volunteer Support. Today, 400 volunteers contribute time and skill in all areas of administration, residences, shelters and support services. They are an integral part of the life, spirit and work of the organization.
The Shepherds of Good Hope philosophy is one of gentleness and compassion. We know that we attempt – to listen to what the residents and clients say – so to assess the best way to serve their needs in today's society. This is seemingly one of the most precious gifts we can give — to listen. Our history has proven we do this well. This is why we exist. We knew that there were people who could not receive services due to their behaviours. They shared, we responded, and thus we serve.
As we (staff, residents, clients, volunteers and donors) journey with our Creator we respond to the cry of the poor and the knowledge that we as a community at Shepherds of Good Hope provide life's basics – food, clothing and shelter.
The Shepherds of Good Hope is a multi-faceted project designed to serve and support those whose needs are not being met. Expenses are kept at a minimum as we continue to receive an abundance of donated food, clothing, furniture, office equipment, volunteer time and etc.
If you would like to help us with some of our ongoing operational needs, the following is how you can help:
