The Invitation

Here is the invitation that started off the Surprised by Grace project in the spring of 2005...

... to participate in a wonderful project this summer – “SURPRISED BY GRACE”. The Sunday bulletin for June 5 contained a flyer [found in the Resources section below] which describes those special moments, small or grand, when the glory and grace of God touches your life. These mostly simple moments need to be sought out and recognized for the treasure held within them, and we offer an opportunity for you to do just that. Notebooks were also distributed at that service for you to record the moments of grace that you experience throughout the summer and into the early fall. We ask that God would open us to an awareness of God’s spirit of grace in our world and in our lives.

Phase I Wrap-up

On Friday evening, October 28, the Surprised by Grace project was celebrated with dinner and a time of sharing. Individuals spoke of their surprise at finding out that God wasn’t as far away as they had thought. In fact, from moment to moment, day to day, God’s simple tender love was shown to us in many varied and gentle ways. We hope that those who participated actively in this endeavour, and those of you who may just have kept the project in your minds for a few months now, have been blessed by seeking out the grace moments in your life. Phase II of the Surprised by Grace project is starting up. Look for posters and flyers in the weeks ahead.

Grace Moments

A booklet of grace moments has been put together for you to read at your leisure. The booklet is available online in PDF format; you can read it by following the link in the Resources section below. Won’t you take time to read a few of these stories of God’s grace as experienced in the lives of people of our faith community... and we pray for your continuing awareness that God loves and nurtures you in a very personal way.
