Youth Activities

Rideau Park offers a wide variety of youth activities. Each one of the activities below also has a volunteer opportunity. For more information please feel free to call the church office or the contact listed with the activity.


Teaching and Study Programs

JUNIOR YOUTH CLASS: A group for junior high school aged youth which meets in the Beecroft balcony during the 9:30 am Sunday Service.

BIBLE SURVEY CLASS: This class, intended for grade 9 students, gives an overview of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation in one school year. It meets Sunday mornings at 9:30 am in the Parlour.

YOUTH BIBLE STUDY: This group, intended for youth in grades 10 to 12, meets every Sunday evening from 7 to 8:30 pm in the Parlour. Our sessions are always challenging, with discussion being a key element, as we listen and learn together. Come along and bring a friend—no church/Bible experience required!  The first session is September 18th.

POST SECONDARY (PS) A weekly gathering for young adults. Contact Rev. Steve Clifton for more information. (613-733-3156 ext. 225 or sclifton@rideaupark.ca).

CONFIRMATION CLASSES: Teens wishing to dialogue about faith issues and church membership are invited to attend confirmation classes. These groups have often been the source of long friendships among the youth, and we would ask you to encourage your child’s attendance. Classes will be held in the spring for ten weeks and Confirmation will be held in June, 2012. Contact Rev. Steve Clifton (613-733-3156 ext. 225 or sclifton@rideaupark.ca) for more information.


Drama and Music Programs

DRAMA PRESENTATIONS are presented occasionally during worship services. People of all ages are welcome to participate in this mode of presenting the gospel in a visual manner. For more information, please contact Rev. Steve Clifton (613-733-3156 ext. 225 or sclifton@rideaupark.ca).

JUBILATION is a choir for grades 7 and up which meets Thursdays from 6:30-6:50 pm in B12. The program will include music, drama, drumming, guest artists, movement and outreach into the community. Contact Music Director, Richard Glasser (613-733-3156 or musicdir@rideaupark.ca). First practice is September 8th.

GRACE NOTES is our new teen handbell ensemble. Aimed at grades 8+, this relaxed and fun group works on improving technique and musicality while exploring unique contemporary and classical music genres. No previous music experience is required! Rehearsals are Thursdays from 6:50-7:20 pm in the Sanctuary. For more information, please contact the director, Andrea Laliberté (613-248-1283 or marcandrea@rogers.com). First practice is on Sept. 8th.

INSTRUMENTAL AND VOCAL: An opportunity to play solo instruments or be part of a small band/orchestra ensemble. To volunteer your talent, please contact our Music Director, Richard Glasser (613-733-3156 ext. 223 or musicdir@rideaupark.ca).

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP TEAM: This intergenerational group provides music and liturgy for worship scheduled throughout the year. For more information, please contact the office at 613-733-3156 ext. 229.
