It’s December and that means Christmas Cheer is well underway! Every year, Rideau Park reaches out to 150 households in the Christmas season, providing 75 families with gift cards for groceries, and 75 hampers with a Christmas meal and groceries to make it through that last week of December.
The planning committee has been busy this fall laying the groundwork, but now we are recruiting volunteers and looking for donations to ensure a successful campaign. We cannot accomplish this, however, without the work of our volunteers, and the generous donations of the congregation. We still need drivers and helpers to deliver the hampers on Friday, December 21st, and volunteers to help load cars. The sign-up sheets are posted on the “Help Wanted” bulletin board at the end of the upper hallway.
We also need the financial resources to pay for the groceries and vouchers. Donations can be put in the offering plate on Sundays, or dropped off at the church office. If you wish to donate online, please use the “Donate Now” button on the website, indicate “General”, then leave us a message indicating it is for Christmas Cheer.
Remembering the Christ child born in humble state, let us worship not only with songs and words, but in our caring for others in this time.
