Attention Rideau Park Families! The HearSay Thursday supper program will be re-starting on Thursday, November 3.
What is HearSay? A time of community, gathering for dinner prior to Thursday night music programs. Historically, families have signed up to take turns cooking a communal meal. The meal is anything the volunteers want to prepare – everything from chili to pizza (ordered or homemade!) to shwarma to jambalaya has been enjoyed in the past. Those with dietary restrictions often are able to enjoy some or all of the meal, but may want to consider bringing a favourite food to eat themselves, in case it is needed. As many hands make light work, assistance with set-up and clean-up is always appreciated. A donation is suggested to cover the cost of the meal. Dinner is at 5:45pm in Beecroft Hall.
Why is HearSay important? This ministry allows families to participate on the Thursday night music programs without the added stress of meal prep. In addition (and perhaps most importantly) it is a time of fellowship, a great introduction to the Rideau Park hospitality for new comers and a way to connect for those who have been coming for years. We have had upwards of 60 people at times, and it is a great opportunity for fellowship. All are welcome!
What has changed? As we are building the program back up, we will be looking at options for how to do so safely and to everyone’s comfort level. We will be asking those interested to participate in a mini “focus group” on the first night back (Thursday, November 3) after the meal, to provide some feedback on how we can make this sustainable. We will also be asking for RSVPs to give an idea of the numbers as we start up again.
