The Heron Emergency Food Centre is experiencing a sharp rise in requests for emergency food and they are starting to be stretched quite thin. Rideau Park is recommencing our annual Walkathon which will be held on Saturday, September 17 from 9am to noon. More info will be coming soon. Donation envelopes are available at the church. If you’d like to contribute food, following are items that are needed: tuna, jam, canned vegetables, pasta sauce, soup, chickpeas, kidney beans, cereal, pasta and school snacks for children. Also tea, coffee and cooking oil are much appreciated – the price of cooking oil has quadrupled in the last six months and many of the clients of the food centre are from the middle east. Non-perishable food can be delivered to the church on Sunday mornings or dropped off at the church between 9am and 3pm from Monday to Thursday.
