There’s a picture on my door, of dandelions forcing their way through asphalt – a bright blaze of mischievous yellow in the midst of endless but practical grey. The quote says: “A weed is a plant that has mastered every survival skill – except for learning how to grow in rows.” (Doug Larson). Dandelions may not be your favourite aspect of summer, but you have to admire their persistence. Over the months of June, July and August, many of our programs at Rideau Park wind down, leaving time for the travel, long walks and visiting relatives that come with summer. We hope, however, that Rideau Park will be persistent in your thoughts and your time as well.
We keep in our thoughts the friends and families of those whose lives we celebrated in recent months: Sadie Hoover, Lorraine Frances Stevenson.
