RPUC Council News – November 2022

Council Report:

Rideau Park United Church’s Council met Wednesday November 23, over Zoom.

  • The chair has received an invitation from Kitchissippi United to meet with other chairs in January for support and discussion of congregational realities following the pandemic.
  • Reports were received from committees through their liaisons. Many groups are increasing activities and programming where it seems safe to do so.  We look forward to the return of a Christmas Concert, Christmas Pageant, and the UCW candlelight service.
  • Our financial update included a forecast for the budget 2023.
  • Council voted to divide the Britt Funds with 90% to Ministry and Programs, and 10% to the Reserve Fund.
  • The Stewardship Committee has prepared the results of the Time and Talent questionnaire and will be sharing the information with committee chairs and those who lead groups in the congregation.
  • The Foundation Fund has not been used in 2022, so Council will call for proposals early in 2023.
  • There was discussion of whether masks should be required in the building. It was decided that we would make masks available and increase signage to positively encourage people to wear masks in worship.
