Rideau Park has opportunities for choral singing for all age groups: children, youth, and adult/intergenerational. In addition, we have handbell choirs for youth and adults, and chimes for children.
Children’s and Youth Choirs
KINDER-PRAISE is for children up to the age of 3. They meet every Thursday from 6:15pm-6:45pm. Contact Iain Macpherson, email@example.com, for further details.
CHERUB CHOIR Cherubs are ages 4 to 6. They meet every Thursday night from 6:15pm-6:45pm. We learn secular (example: Baby Bumble Bee) and religious songs (example: Jesus Loves Me). Cherubs also use rhythm instruments and learn the values of whole notes, half notes and quarter notes in 4/4 time.
We celebrate every holiday with parties and costumes and fun, fun, fun! We are not performance-oriented, but do sing in church on Christmas Eve, on Mother’s Day, and on other occasions as asked by the Music Ministry Coordinator. JOYFUL NOISE choir is aimed at children in grades 2 through 5 and grades 6 though 12. There are two groups that meet each Thursday evening: Joyful Noise 1 (grades 6 to 12 from 6:45pm-7:15pm) and Joyful Noise 2 (grades 2 to 5 from 6:15pm-6:45pm). THE CHANCEL CHOIR is an adult choir that enhances the worship experience at the Sunday morning worship service. The choir supports the congregation in singing the hymns, sings anthems and leads the liturgy of the service. Special choral presentations in the fall, Christmas and spring are also presented. This choir is not auditioned and rehearses September-May on Thursdays from 7:30pm-9:30pm.
The Rideau Park United Church music library consists of over 450 choral titles, with multiple copies of each work. The repertoire includes sacred, secular, ancient, and modern arrangements in unison, 2, 3 and 4 part settings. LA BELL ENSEMBLE is an adult handbell choir that provides music for weddings and offers its gifts of music frequently out in the wider community. Practices are held on Tuesdays at 7:15pm. For more information please contact Marcia Gosse at email@example.com.

GRACE NOTES TEEN BELLS is a large, fun group of tween and teen bell ringers in grades 6+. We meet Thursdays in the Sanctuary from 6:45pm-7:30pm to take on a wide range of exciting music. We focus on both contemporary popular music and more traditional songs, always with our unique flare. No prior music experience is needed – we will teach you everything you need to know to join in and ring the bells. NOTE-ABLE SOUND CHIMES is a large group of enthusiastic ringers ranging from grades 2-5. We meet Thursdays in the Sanctuary from 6:15pm-6:45 pm to have lots of fun while we learn about ringing chimes. No music experience is required – if you have hands and can count to 4, you can ring with us! We take on both popular and sacred music and share our music each term in concert and in church.
