As part of our Lenten reflection series, we are using a new format, brought about by unexpected circumstance. Instead of meeting in person, below are links to the weekly Lenten Reflections, which are available in PowerPoint and PDF formats.

Wednesday, March 18Prayer in the Forest or Wild Church (PowerPoint)
Wednesday, March 25Prayer in the Tradition of the Taize Community (PDF)
Wednesday, April 1Art as Prayer (PowerPoint)

To view the PowerPoint presentations with audio (Prayer in the Forest or Wild Church and Art as Prayer, you will probably have to either save or open the file using PowerPoint. To exit the slideshow at any time, click on the Escape (esc) key, which should be top left on the keyboard.  If you do not have PowerPoint, the text and slides have also been posted in PDF format under sermon texts.

In the gospel, Jesus said “Pray then in this way…” (Matthew 6:9) While Jesus gave them words, the whole passage is actually about an attitude of prayer, rather than specific words or one practice. If we bring humility, an open heart, and an attitude of listening, rather than requesting, then we are praying in the way of Jesus.

The Lenten theme reflects the variety of ways that Christians (and people of other faiths) pray, each week focusing on a different way to approach prayer. If you’ve always had trouble praying, or you are open to trying a new way, maybe these explorations will help you find a way that works for you.
