The Social Action and Outreach Committee will be collecting personal care items once again on Monday, October 25, between 1pm and 3pm, in the church parking area outside Beecroft Hall on Cunningham. This month we will be accepting donations for the Cornerstone Women’s Emergency Shelter at the Heron Road Community Centre, 1480 Heron Road. Currently 107 women are living there; since the building is disability accessible, a number of the residents are older and disabled.
Because there is a lack of storage space, we are requested to donate travel sized items including soap shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.
Also requested are: Depends adult diapers, feminine hygiene products, single bed sheets, towels, underwear, socks, hats and mittens.
Because there is no storage space they cannot accept winter outerwear at this time.
This program continues to be very successful and SAOC will be meeting to discuss ways to expand this service. Thank you all for your continuing generosity.
